“My love of fitness and passion for performing led me to compete”
“I started out as a singer in the girls’ pop group “Innosense” at age 18. They gave us a gym membership to stay in shape and, as soon as I stepped foot in the gym, I was hooked”
Amanda was originally born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1979. However, her real story only started once she moved to Florida some years later.
In 1998, at the age of 18, Amanda’s main passion was music. At the time she was part of the Florida band “Innosense” – a girl group that included Britney Spears. To maintain the group’s image, Amanda was asked if she would go to the gym to stay in shape – it was here that she discovered her true calling.
After leaving the band and attempting to go solo, she was dropped from her record-label in 2003. This was a wake up call. Since the band, Amanda had made great progress with her physique.
Having fallen in love with training, Amanda realized that if she stepped up her game in the gym – she could make it in the fitness industry. That same year, at the age of 24, she set her sights on becoming a professional Bikini Athlete.
After her music career, she wasted no time in entering her first competition – the 2003 Miss Bikini Florida. She began training 6 days a week, twice a day, in order to prepare for the show.
She was more determined than ever to succeed.
By the time she stepped on stage in Florida, she had began to develop her dream physique. All of her hard work paid off.
She walked away from the competition with the trophy, after being placed 1st. This was the beginning of a hugely successful journey for the future fitness legend.
Amanda had the perfect start to her career as a competitor. But it wasn’t until 2007, at the age of 28, that Amanda’s career as a Bikini Athlete really took off. Between 2007-2008, she was placed 1st in 4 Musclemania shows.
Riding high from the success in Musclemania, she then began competing in the NPC. Over the course of 2009, she dominated 5 shows, taking home the trophy in every competition that she entered. But her hard work didn’t stop there.
By the end of 2009, she had earned her place in the IFBB Olympia. Being careful not to lose momentum, she upped her training again. She knew that this was her chance to win a Pro Card.
After years of rigorous training, Amanda tasted victory in the prestigious IFBB Olympia. She had finally earned her Pro Card – her goal since starting her fitness journey.
But this was just the start.
During the next 5 years, she placed in 20 more competitions, gaining more recognition with each victory. By the time she was 35-years-old, she had filled her trophy cabinet with 10 IFBB Bikini Pro and 4 Olympia victories. She was even approached to be the cover model for numerous fitness magazines.
Amanda had become a fitness Icon.
After achieving everything that she wanted as a competitor, she embarked on a new journey. She wanted to give back to the industry by helping others realize their dreams. In 2014, the Booty Queen began her new career as an online personal trainer, aiming to inspire a new generation of fitness icons.
“I love training. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on since I was 18-years-old, and I love acquiring knowledge”
Amanda likes to keep her body guessing by regularly mixing up her workouts. She changes between heavy lifting days, light days, and moderate days. She also incorporates supersets, tri-sets, giant sets, dropsets, rest pauses, pyramids, negatives, and circuits.
In her off-season, she trains 5 days a week, twice a day. However, when she used to prepare for shows or a photo-shoot, she ups her training to 6 days a week, twice a day.
Amanda enjoys splitting her cardio from her weight lifting sessions, leaving two days a week to build her endurance and fitness.
Amanda’s workout plan will look similar to this:
“I’m a big believer in supplements. I have been taking them for years and have seen great results. I believe supplements are just that—they “supplement” your training and your diet”
Amanda is a big believer in eating clean, whole foods. She consumes a high protein diet with moderate carbs involved. She takes care to split each meal carefully, using portion control to measure her calories and macros. She tries to eat as much vegetables as she can, as she prefers to get as much of her vitamins and nutrients from food.
Although she usually eats clean, Amanda does enjoy a cheat meal once per week to refresh the mind and reset her metabolism. However, she emphasizes that no-one should have cheat days or weeks.
“The biggest thing that aggravates me is completely limiting and restricting certain food groups – that’s when you’re setting yourself up for failure. Balance is key and it should be everything in moderation. Look at food as fuel and put nutritious things in your body”
A typical day of eating would look like this:
“I have so many things I want to accomplish. Ultimately, I want to be successful, happy, healthy, loved, and make a living doing what I love”
Being a fitness sensation herself, Amanda appreciates others who have worked hard to achieve their goals. However, she names UFC star, Ronda Rousey as her main idol in sport.
“I admire anyone who competes whether as a fitness related competitor or as an olympic athlete and everyone in between. I know the hard work, dedication, discipline and self control it takes so I really admire that”
“Take one day at a time and just enjoy life, when something passes you by you can’t get it back – enjoy life to the fullest.”
Amanda has taught us to never fear failure. You should always follow your dreams. She took the risk of going solo as a singer, and although it didn’t pay off, she came back strong to become a champion.
If we can learn one thing from the Booty Queen, it’s that you can only succeed with hard work. She spent years training twice a day, 6 times a week, in order to achieve greatness in the fitness industry.
