Training
Five Times Per Week
As a competitive athlete, Lauren trains five days per week, sometimes up to two times per day. In her training sessions, Lauren includes weightlifting, conditioning work, high-intensity cardio, and mobility drills.
By combining all of these exercises, Lauren is able to perform at a high level all-year-round; always ready to take on a new challenge in her CrossFit competitions.
Stretching
After her training sessions are over, Lauren usually takes about 30-60 minutes to cool down and stretch.
This helps promote a healthy blood flow into the muscles she’d trained that day, along with decreasing the risk of an injury.
Nutrition
Lauren’s diet is rich in fish, lean meats, vegetables, and healthy fats. She also includes some simple and complex carbs such as fruits, sweet potatoes, and brown rice in her diet. However, these are only reserved as her pre- and post-workout meals when she needs glycogen the most.
In terms of supplements, Lauren only takes a high-quality whey protein and sometimes a multivitamin. She uses these supplements as ‘an insurance policy’ against any potential deficiencies in her diet.
What we can learn from Lauren Herrera
Something that we could learn from Lauren Herrera is that training alone isn’t enough to keep a fit and lean physique.
No matter how hard you train, your diet will hinder your results if it doesn’t have the right nutrients. Likewise, without training, diet alone can’t help you get toned.
While it’s not easy to maintain both your training and diet, the results will be worth it. If there’s anyone who’d tell you this, it would be Lauren Herrera.
