Biography
Early Years
Born and raised in Florida (USA), Jason grew up fascinated by fitness; he looked up to his comic-book heroes, and desired to sculpt a powerful physique similar to theirs.
From the age of 10, in 1999, Jason began requesting a barbell bench press for his birthday. However, it wasn’t until he was 13-years-old, in 1992, that he was finally gifted with his first set of weights.
Start of Fitness Journey
Although Jason had been given a barbell bench press set, he wasn’t strong enough to lift the 45lb (20kg) bar.
Motivated to get stronger, he began performing press ups and crunches every night – in an attempt to successfully begin weight-training.
By the time Jason was 14, he’d grown too strong for his small barbell set and was encouraged, by his mum, to join the local gym. This was really when he started to make progress on his physique.
Bodybuilding
As expected from a young and inexperienced weight-lifter, Jason made many mistakes at first. He attempted to lift weights too heavy for him – feeding his ego, rather than focusing on his form, believing this was the key to muscle growth.
Consequently, Jason didn’t see much progress on his physique. However, he soon realized his mistakes, and made an effort to correct them – starting to lift lighter weights, and focusing on following a well-planned diet.
Over the course of the next 13 years, Jason slowly managed to sculpt his dream physique. By the time he was 27, in 2016, he’d placed highly in NPC competitions, and became recognized for his hard work and determination.
Training
Jason is a strong believer of training hard, but keeping his training routine basic. He places a particular emphasis on the ‘mind-muscle-connection’, and believes he activates more muscle fibers by concentrating on every single movement during his weight-training sessions.
Also, Jason knows the importance of focusing on form over weight – never entering the gym to feed his ego, but training each muscle group correctly.
