Biography

From the U.S. Marine Corps to the Entertainment Industry

Born and raised in Virginia USA, The Hodgetwins were endowed with an ability to entertain people from their early days. They said they were always “those guys who made people laugh.” However, as youngsters, they never thought of turning this innate gift into a career.

They initially chased a career in finance, and the U.S. Marine Corps. But, Keith eventually realized this wasn’t something he wanted to do for the rest of his life. As a result, he suggested to Kevin they should quit their corporate jobs, and make a leap of faith into the entertainment industry.

Kevin agreed, and as the brothers said, “the rest is history.” As they were always big advocates of the fitness lifestyle, The Hodgetwins decided to start uploading videos related to training and nutrition – with their own ‘unique twist’ added to it.

Their videos quickly gained global appeal, thanks to their ‘edgy’ humor, and awesome personality. From then on, the brothers branched out into other topics. Such as commentary on current events, candid photo, or a video commentary, etc.

Achieving Success

By 2014, The Hodgetwins became famous worldwide; gaining an enormous number of fans every month. They started appearing in minor TV Shows, as well as some commercials; which, in turn, allowed them to grow their brand, alongside a clothing line business.

Kevin and Keith continue to pursue their dreams; hoping to make it on the big screen one day. As some of their loyal followers say; The twins on the rise’ are set to entertain fans for years to come.

“We are all different, and everyone’s body reacts differently to different exercises and nutrition, volume, and rep ranges. What may work for you may not work for someone else. We are very clear about that in our advice to people. Sometimes you have to try a number of different approaches or a combination of routines to reach your fitness goals.”

Training

The Hodgetwins work on each body part twice a week. Their rep range depends on the type of exercise they do. If it’s a compound movement, they’ll do 5-8 reps. For isolation movements, such as bicep curls or cable flys, they’ll do 8-12 reps.

The brothers also mentioned they never train to failure; believing it’s not necessary for optimal muscle growth.

Replacement for Squats

During their service in the Marine Corps, The Hodgetwins injured their lower back. As a result of this, they stopped doing exercises like squats and deadlifts in the gym.

Because of this, they had to find a replacement for these compound movements; something that would build their legs as effectively as squats and deadlifts.

They’ve found that high volume leg workouts with exercises such as leg press, lunges, leg extensions, and lying leg curls gave them equally as good results as regular squats.

“We are both International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) certified personal trainers. It was important to us both to become certified because we do take fitness seriously. We wanted to have access to the best information, so, we’re constantly doing research and updating our knowledge on what’s new in fitness and nutrition.”

Nutrition

Unorthodox Macros

Surprisingly, The Hodgetwins eat only between 120-140 grams of protein per day. Kevin explains the reason for this is; if they were to eat a gram of protein per pound of their bodyweight – they would eat around 210 grams of protein. Which Kevin believes is ‘way too much’ for their colon and kidneys to process.

The twins say they respond the best to lower protein intake. Along with a daily intake of around 2,500 calories.

As for fats and carbs, they usually don’t count them. Kevin says they always try to have a rough estimate of their carb intake. While trying to eat all of their daily fats in one meal.

“Find the calories you need to maintain growth, and then make sure you have enough protein. Some days it’s real easy to get carbs because they’re in everything, and in one meal you can consume all your fats for the day.” – The Hodgetwins

Rules for Eating

These are some of the dieting rules the Hodgetwins follow when they want to cut weight:

  • 1st Rule: The main protein sources should be eggs, and lean meats like chicken and beef.
  • 2nd Rule: Best carbs are vegetables, potatoes, rice, and legumes.
  • 3rd Rule: Always aim to eat home-cooked meals. If that’s not possible, then a healthy option from a restaurant menu will do.
  • 4th Rule: When they want to lose weight, The Hodgetwins eat between 1800-2000 calories per day.
  • 5th Rule: Alongside their 1800-2000 calorie limit, they also restrict their carb intake to 50 grams or less 2 or 3 days out of the week.
  • 6th Rule: Eat around 6 small meals each day.

I just stumbled upon these 2! So dang funny and seem to really have good hearts. It don’t hurt that they easy to look at!?

I found them the same way. I was just watching some YouTube videos when “BAM”, there they were. I haven’t stopped laughing since! I only have 1 complaint about them though. Why in the world do you guys not do shows in the NYC area, Newark, NJ, and/or Philly areas? I noticed that you go all around the State of New Jersey, but don’t have any shows here. Is there a reason for that?

I’d also like to say, from 1 Veteran to another, thank you for your service!

Paul T.

Just got tickets for your Orlando show. I’m so happy to be going. Something fun and interesting at the same time. See you in October!

I am familiar with the power being twins can have. My brother and I are identical, mirror twins. We can communicate without speaking and enjoy each other’s company a great deal. I identify with Kevin and Keith and how they interact. Their hilarious videos are that much more enjoyable knowing what it is like being a twin. Congratulations on your deserved success!

Hi guys, love the videos. Please keep up the great work and keep the videos coming. Just bought 3 great shirts and can’t wait for them to come in!
